Video Case Study – GS1 Traceability
2016 is looking like it could be a busy year for video production in Cork. At VIDEOZOOM, we’ve been flat out producing promos, a video case study and content for the likes of GS1, Reprodoc, Stryker, Novartis, Arup, Cork Chamber and Bon Secours Hospital.
GS1 commissioned us to produce a video case study of Riverview Eggs to showcase the benefits of the GS1 System of Standards. GS1 global standards are the most widely used supply chain standards in the world. Over 2 million organisations across the globe use GS1 standards today, to identify, capture and share information about their products, services, locations and assets. In addition to managing the licencing and allocation of GS1 Numbers, GS1 offers a broad range of services to members and the general business community including; technical support and advice, user forums and working groups, community engagement and on-boarding facilities, training and consultancy services. gs1ie.org
We went to visit Riverview Eggs in Watergrasshill, a family business and one of the largest producer/packers of eggs in Ireland, to see how the company uses GS1 barcodes and standards to create a peerless system of traceability for their products.
Riverview was the first producer/packer to be granted the Bord Bia Egg Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS) Certification in 1998. The Bord Bia EQAS standard is now a pre-requisite for supplying all retail groups in Ireland and most catering outlets.
In September 2006, Riverview Eggs Ltd, achieved Grade A status in the Global Food Standard (BRC) Accreditation. BRC is globally respected as the foremost accreditation standard attainable for product quality control and safety, in the Food Industry. rivervieweggs.ie
